i think its 60w maybe not sure got it used. i have a nice external pickup that works beautifully at my friends place so i don't think its that. i think the groundings bad but im open to other suggestions of course. thanks

it's important to learn good mike technique, but sure, you can get a headset. they're kinda 'spensive though.

they will all work fine. the mike just transmits the signal, it's the PA that projects it, so there's only so far you can go by

What kinda options are out there for approx 300-400 dollar range?

If you want something that will sound good for guitar and mics, I would consider a powered speaker. No guitar amp will work well for vocals.
