I brought this guitar a few days ago when I decided to try to learn to play classically after ten+ years of playing acoustic steel string and occasionally electric (Les Paul guitars rule for that, by the way). It is the perfect guitar for the classical beginner and would especially make a great gift for the budding teen guitarist in your life. Now for the sound: as most everyone on the guitar reviews has said, good strings make a world of difference. Once the guitar is tuned, it plays well, with a deep, rich tone and the frets are perfect size and condition for proper fingering. I can tell that these strings are pretty bargain priced and I will change them as soon as I get a chance to visit my local guitar shop.

Whenever I try to strumm my (acoustic) guitar (Oscar Schmidt OC9) it sounds very very loud - enough to wake my neighbors. And this even with a very thin guitar pick. If I play, for example arpeggios, everything seems to be ok and the guitar sounds ok
