Q: I'm a 6th year trumpet player and I've always loved the sound of lower brass instruments. But instead of learning a new clef and instrument I thought it would be easier to play the flugelhorn. Is it the same as the trumpet? I know that it has the same
A: You should ask this question in music section, not movies.
Are you planning on marching? Flugelhorn is basically a marching french horn, just like a baritone is a marching tuba (even though they make marching tubas). I would recommend
What's the difference between an Flugelhorn & a Mellophone? What is the difference in :
Sound
utilization
parts
tuning

Give it a go. I would be very difficult to be less than very happy with this horn regardless of price. I marched with the sacramento mandarins this year, and we used marcinkiewicz mouthpieces on our mellos. but, when I got home and tried to buy one, they didn't have a section for mellophone on their website. I'm wondering if we were using flugelhorn ones.
It seems like it would be easier to develop good tone faster playing a flugelhorn because its a slightly larger brass instrument.
