Is the Flugelhorn played the same way as the trumpet?
[2010-09-28 18:41:26]

Q: I'm a 6th year trumpet player and I've always loved the sound of lower brass instruments. But instead of learning a new clef and instrument I thought it would be easier to play the flugelhorn. Is it the same as the trumpet? I know that it has the same

A: You should ask this question in music section, not movies.

Are you planning on marching? Flugelhorn is basically a marching french horn, just like a baritone is a marching tuba (even though they make marching tubas). I would recommend

A flugelhorn is in B-flat just like a trumpet, but is extremely conical in design, meaning that the bore size is getting continuously larger starting with the lead pipe all the way to the bell. This gives it a very mellow tone, but makes it a little

The Video Shoot for "Amazing" from Nikkole and Arturo Sandoval

I marched with the sacramento mandarins this year, and we used marcinkiewicz mouthpieces on our mellos. but, when I got home and tried to buy one, they didn't have a section for mellophone on their website. I'm wondering if we were using flugelhorn ones.

I play mellophone, and I have a flugelhorn mouthpiece in my case. I overheard people talking about how the flugelhorn mouthpiece had a more open cup. I've never tried it, but I'd still prefer mellophone

Is it easier to play a flugelhorn than a trumpet?

Bandstand - August 14, 2011

It seems like it would be easier to develop good tone faster playing a flugelhorn because its a slightly larger brass instrument.

I play flugelhorn and trumpet. I find trumpet easier because the flugelhorn mouthpiece is deeper and the trumpet mouthpiece is cup shape. I don't know your experience with either instrument ,but I strongly suggest you get the DVD by the great trumpet
