Q: i just got a vintage blessing trumpet from my uncle (he played it in the 70s) and the mp is shot. i was thinking a yamaha of some sort.
A: The mouthpiece has to be a trumpet mouthpiece and that's it. The size depends on your skill level. A 7/5C for a beginner. 3C for Intermmediate and if you are an expert then you should know what mouthpiece to use on any trumpet :P Hope this helps!
I've been playing trumpet for 8 years now, and I've gotten pretty good at cleaning out some pretty abused and old horns. I've seen a bunch of vintage trumpets such as olds, conn, etc. on ebay for very cheap, probably because they're in terrible shape.
