Intro As long-time readers of this blog may recognize, in early 2007 I began a “Exploration For The Perfect Strat,” with the singular intention of digging up the best syndication of playability, affordability, looks, and tone of voice that Fender had to offer in the way of vintage-sort Stratocasters.
Having had a life-dream of love affair with the gathering’s simple but versatile Tele––and someway managing to go some 20+ years without for ever owning a Strat––I certain early on that I would gambol the many worthy clones on the vend, and keep my efforts trained on the genuine deal: the Fender Stratocaster.
Because there’s unquestionably no such thing as a “best” guitar, and the readers of this blog unassisted make up a huge cross allocate of popular guitar-playing styles and techniques, my crusade has been not so much to find “the” pre-eminent Strat, but the Strat that subdue suits my own personal tastes and needs… or to put it perhaps more succinctly: when reading this study keep in mind that as again, your mileage may vary.
After more than a year of searching because of big-box guitar stores and pawn shops resembling, I’m happy to report that Fender is producing some strikingly gorgeous instruments at subjectively appropriate prices right now (if you’re consenting to dig around a bit,) and that I found my own scarcely piece of heaven in a 3-tone Sunburst “Minimal Dealer Run” Thin Peel ‘62 Stratocaster Re-Issue––one of justifiable 180 produced.
