Q: i am getting some equipment to play some gigs and start a band and i need to know because the epiphone is much cheaper than fender but the epiphone still says they use real tubes and they do look cool
A: i would say epiphone is a rather decent brand for beginners/amateurs to start experimenting with.
If its a small gig, epiphone is fine depending on where u place your amps, the equalisations and effects you use, and also the stage set up,
Quality: good, great, or excellent/mind blowing
Price Range (most important) equal to or less than 200. and if it has to, 250.
size: doesnt really matter. but the smaller the better.

Is there a difference in sound between an Epiphone SG Special and an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. I was wondering because I like the sound of Gibson SG and Gibson Les Paul. There is a difference between the two Gibson models, and I was wondering if there was a difference in the sound patterns Epiphone considering they are both starting templates. I know that the Les Paul Special II has no table in maple like other Les Paul models, so they all two the same wood, just mahogany. I heard that a Gibson SG has more of a "Fender as" sound and I was wondering if the same applies to the Epiphone model....
I have a couple of early 80's reissue Stratocasters, an American Standard Fender Precision Bass, and a whole bunch of acoustics: 2 Taylor 12 strings, 2 Fraulini 12 strings, Martin OM-28V, National Style 1 Tricone, National M2, and a Gold Tone Paul... I used to own a late 70's Les Paul Deluxe in tobacco sunburst and an early 80's Les Paul Custom in black. My main amp is a Dr. Z Galaxie, which I love.
Style: Single-cutaway Les Paul Top: Carved maple Body: Mahogany Neck: Set mahogany Scale length: 24-3/4″ Neck profile: ’50s rounded Fingerboard: Rosewood Fingerboard radius: 14″ No. of frets: 22 Fingerboard inlays: Trapezoid Nut width: 1-11/16″... The feel of this guitar especially the neck felt very plastic and cheap and would require a neck scraping to give it a more natual feeling. I am comparing this guitar to guitars between 600 and 1300 dollars....
I play blues at jam sessions with friends- no gigging- I've been shopping for something with tubes for my Jimmie Vaughan Strat -I've played through both at GC-can't seem to make up my mind- any input either way? They're both 15 watts, the Fender...
I've been working for years that I never get the chance to do the one thing that I always wanted to do that is to play the guitar. Recently I made a career change, I now got plenty of time for myself and I want nothing more than to devote my time and

Angus Young: SG Master The tone is more midrange-heavy than a maple-topped Les Paul, and the body bevelling makes it a particularly fun guitar to jump around with onstage. Also, the SG cooperates particularly well with overdriven tube amp power sections, whether cranking out |
