Garrison was purchased by Gibson in July of 2007 so any guitar made before then may have a tendancy to climb in value and anything built after Gibson toook over may not be a "Garrison" guitar. However its important to add that shopping for guitars by brand is hit and miss, as many great guitars as they make they also end up producing the occasional lemon from time to time....
I had an opportunity to catch David Harvey (head of the Mandolin, Banjo and Resonator side of the Gibson Company in Nashville) in the hall prior to one of the workshops this morning for an unofficial update on the Gibson facility at the Opry Mills... Guthy-Renker, the company who has the rights here, is an extremely dated company and has done this very same thing to ‘The... Well, it’s quite simple, really, ‘The Dean Martin Show’(1965-74) was a favorite of mine as a child , from what I’ve seen here from revisiting, it still holds up pretty well(outside of some of the vaudevillian slapstick). I have a message for Guthy-Renker and the cheesy Mr. Garrison: It’s 2008, folks, let’s start acting like it. Get your silly heads out of the clouds. However, for the rest of us who simply like Martin/the show, I would suggest to wait until Garrison has someone else do it right-ie. Okay, all I’m basically saying here is that this’ll probably be fine for those EXTREMELY dedicated Martin enthusiasts who loved and adored this period and everything and anything that’s released with either Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Bob......
I was thinking of buying a garrison acoustic, They seem pretty pricey. is it worth the money? and i heard they are Heavy.. Any truth in that?
