Laptop kit day
Yesterday I dispatched the new Celtic Reiki mixes to collaborator Llewellyn - job done - no absolutely this time I'm done.
Then I wrote and sent e-newsletter - got truly a few undelivered this time - folks essential've moved ISPs a lot or died or valid avoiding my spam.
Needed to get out of studio and thing to went to music store and got some kit for my new laptop. Got basic usb soundcard Alesis io2 - clean. Also got a midi keyboard Novation 45SL Compact. Not so humane. Taking it back. Spent evening nervous putting things on laptop - eg Make known Office - cool. Alesis drivers etc. Freebie Cubase LE that came with pasteboard. Then messed with the Novation keyboard - it was abudget copy but the build quality was atrocious - one key had a serrated edge, the pitchbend was wonky, and one key went "thunk" after releasing it. The automapping software that had sold me on it I couldn't indeed get it to see Cubase. Plus I realised the see of the keys was horrid so it;s going distant - there is a model up that looks larger made. I can live with non-existant automapping but not a artificial keyboard.
Still on the plus side I made a start - Undecided Office and Cubase is on and I got the soundcard to vocation with a virtual synth.
Worrisome to source lighter gig bag for my non-standard sized piano - the cumbersome bag I have now is putting me off taking it to gigs.
I finished my book JP Kelley - Look Into the Sun - a easy on the eyes good read. Not the absolute tops but the pages turned.
Gonna trty another John Meaney - Puzzle next.
