Q: What cables do I need?
A: You need a USB audio device for DJs such as the one that comes with Serato software (virtual dj doesn't come with such a device, which is why it's so much cheaper)
Then all you need is two stereo RCA (also known as "phono") cables going
With XLR outputs you would use XLR mic cables to connect the mixer to the speakers – it is better because you have less chance of picking up noise and the cables can be as long as you need. It has balanced XLR outputs which are much better than the RCA outputs on the DJX700. I personally wold get the Behringer VMX1000 instead of the DJX700. The RCA ends connect to the mixer main outputs and the 1/4 inch ends go to each speaker. With the unbalanced RCA to 1/4 inch cables, you need to keep them pretty short or you pick up noise on them.
Cons: If you are cueing something and the track that you have live is at a soft part, you can hear it over the live mix—basically this mixer does not cut off any channel completely EVEN with all three killswitches on—which is quite unfortunate as... The BPM and Effects button also have some issues, the BPM is not reliable and is usually off by at least one or two values–stick with your decks BPM counter if using this mixer....
Since I am using this as a mixer I have not investigated the DJ elements but from what I can see and the construction of the unit I am sure they will work just fine. I needed to replace some old Radio Shack mixers as I wanted to be able to connect my 3 computers with sound sources from the web or CDs or various audio recordings I have made, Turntable, LD Player, DVD player, Tape player and audio system. The faders are the heart and soul of every mixer. Each of the 4 inputs can select between 1 of 2 inputs....
Hi just wondering what the best decision here would be! there is a $500 difference so would I be missing out on ALOT if I bought the behringer?
