Alesis Micron
Q: i just bought a midi to usb cable and i'm running it through acid pro 6. The problem is that when i try and play stuff, it comes out on the computer sounding like a regular old midi keyboard. What i'm trying to do is record all the setups and rhythms
A: I think that you should record the audio output of the Micron, not the midi instructions. The midi instructions will only play the same sound if you have all the patches, sequences, etc inside your computer which you don't.

I'm getting this synth soon, and I have Ableton Live right now but all I have to control the instruments in it is my computer keyboard which sucks :(. Could I use the micron as a line in to control them?

This weekend I finally took the time to open the Micron up to see how the plug was constructed internally, just to check if this was something i could take care of myself. It is a successor of the Alesis ION and while its a super-portable version, without the IONs hands-on knobs, it adds a very cool argpeggio and sequencer part, as well as built-in effects. Not only was one of the outputs unuseable, but the piece of metal stuck inside also distorted the sound coming out from the headphone jack....
my band plays thier songs live down half a step, and I need to be able to play with them, without having to relearn my parts.
please help : )
